The Malta Society of Arts awards prestigious medal to Paul Haber in recognition for his contribution to the arts over his long-spanning artistic career.
In an intimate ceremony that took place last week at Palazzo de La Salle, the premises of the Malta Society of Arts (MSA), the Gold Medal was presented to Paul Haber by H.E. The President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, patron of the MSA.
The event started with a welcome speech by Arch. Adrian Mamo, President of the MSA. The ceremony was then animated by commentaries and anecdotes from two close friends and collaborators of Haber – Fr. Marius Zerafa and Joe Camilleri. A humbled Paul Haber thanked everyone who, in one way or another, contributed to his artistic achievements, as well as his family, who was present at the ceremony, and the MSA for awarding him the 2018 Gold Medal.
Haber has exhibited in several collective exhibitions and personal shows in museums and art galleries in Malta and abroad, including at the Lincoln Centre in New York, the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and his retrospective exhibition in the Bank of Valletta series. Born in Gozo, Paul Haber graduated in ceramics from Central St. Martins College of Art in London after following intensive studies in art and sculpture in Malta, Italy and the UK.
Musical interludes during the award ceremony were offered by talented singer Angela Vella Zarb and Daniel Sant, who accompanied her on the piano and the guitar respectively.
