An exclusive interview with award-nominated and internationally celebrated author M N Grenside promises to be a programme highlight in the National Book Council’s upcoming Malta Book Festival 2020.

During the interview hosted by Jo Caruana, Grenside will reveal his inspiration and the story outline behind his explosive thriller novel Fall Out, which was released to critical acclaim earlier this year.

The Malta-based author and producer will also lift the veil on Tinseltown with stories of Hollywood, some famous names and outrageous anecdotes, as he looks back on his eclectic career that has included Kidnap, Ransom and Extortion Insurance, working for Jim Henson and The Muppets©, spanning the entertainment industry from movies and television to music, as well as serial entrepreneurship.

“I am delighted and honoured to be part of this year’s Malta Book Festival, to share my process of writing Fall Out with other reading enthusiasts like myself,” explains Mr Grenside. “I wanted to wrap up all the knowledge I’ve gained over the course of my career into a thriller based in the movie industry, so it will be fun to take a trip down memory lane in the interview as well.”

Using his unique inside knowledge of the film industry and meticulous research, Grenside has crafted a thrill-a-minute page-turner based on the true scandal of a multi-billion-dollar theft and murder. In Fall Out, an LA screenwriter is killed shortly after completing his latest script and sending it to a specific group of people, all connected to a movie that had abruptly stopped shooting years before and echoes events from the past. Producer Marcus Riley sets out on an increasingly dangerous quest to get the film made, and, alongside designer Melinda (Mako) de Turris and other recipients of the screenplay, escape an assassin from the past.

Among the many rave reviews already received internationally, award-winning producer Alan Moloney has described Fall Out as a ‘tautly written, entertaining thriller that will keep the reader turning the pages right till the very end’ and ‘sits somewhere between The Da Vinci Code and Indiana Jones’. The book has also been nominated for a number of awards, including the prestigious 2021 CWA Daggers Awards in the John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger category and Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year for 2021.

Meanwhile, the audiobook for Fall Out is set to be released on 8 December, and discussions are under way for a series made for television. Mr Grenside is already working on the sequel to his stunning debut novel, part of which will be set in Malta.
