Four friends from Malta have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Zaar to support an epic journey with a worthy cause – raising money for Hospice Malta.
Their adventure of a lifetime, dubbed ‘Rotta Bla Kondotta’ (meaning ‘a route without rules’) will see them drive through 18 countries and across 15,000km from Malta to Mongolia in an old Daihatsu Sirion.
During the ambitious expedition, the team will navigate rough terrain, extreme weather and the possibility that their tiny car – better suited to quick grocery visits than cross-continental journeys – won’t make it to the finish line. But, with a vow that they’ll walk in that worst-case scenario, the team’s resolve focuses on a cause extremely close to all their hearts.
“Most road trips have a plan, but this one has a purpose: to raise funds and awareness for Hospice Malta, while inspiring others to live fully and chase adventure. Hospice Malta has helped many of our team’s family members in times of need. We saw this as an opportunity to support their incredible work,” says Karl Galea, one of the team members. “With such a monumental challenge ahead of us, crowdfunding was the natural choice to make it a reality. It allows people to be part of our journey and support not just us, but those who need Hospice Malta’s care the most.”
The friends will set off on their journey on 1 July, with an estimated travel time of four to six weeks. Backers can donate online via Zaar, while those unable to donate are still encouraged to help spread the word and follow the team’s progress on social media.
