Glitter Punch, a critically-acclaimed drama penned by British playwright Lucy Burke, is set to make its Malta debut at the Blue Box Theatre from 26-28 April.

Burke’s gritty coming-of-age play tells the story of college student Molly, who hopes to overcome her troubled upbringing by starting a difficult relationship with John, a Londoner who is grieving his father and, like Molly, yearning for a connection.

Through the pair’s fast-paced journey of first love, Glitter Punch pushes the boundaries of conventional romance and challenges modern ideas regarding age, consent and power imbalances in relationships, while questioning how far someone might go for the people they love.

The play’s funny, poignant and relatable themes earned it rave reviews during its run at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and afterwards as part of London’s 2018 VAULT Festival, where it won a coveted People’s Choice Award.

In its three-show-only Malta debut, Glitter Punch is being produced by Masquerade Malta and will feature Monique Dimech Genuis and Gianni Selvaggi as Molly and John respectively, as directed by Petra Sant. More information may be found online at www.masquerademalta.com.
