The Malta Society of Arts (MSA) proudly announces the launch of its winter courses schedule, featuring a diverse array of classes in visual arts, crafts and music. Starting this October, these courses will be held at the historic Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta and are designed to accommodate students of all ages and skill levels.
Adding to its innovative offerings, this year the MSA is excited to introduce a pioneering Advanced Level Art course, designed as a comprehensive two-year programme. This course is structured into three modules that blend theoretical knowledge with practical application: history of art, a thematic project, and work from observation. Students enrolling in this course will embark on their educational journey in October 2024 and continue through to May 2026, culminating in the opportunity to sit for their Advanced Level or Intermediate Level exams.
The MSA is also debuting a Theory of Art course, scheduled for Wednesday evenings. This course will explore the foundational principles and philosophical underpinnings of visual arts, charting the evolution of artistic movements and their cultural impacts. Students will engage deeply with critical theories and analyse seminal works to gain a profound understanding of art’s role in society.
The visual arts section boasts a variety of popular courses, including the Human Figure Nude class, which features a live model in every session. Additional classes include Clay Modelling, Art for Mature Students, O-Level Art, Pencil and Charcoal Drawing, and Art for Kids. These courses cater to all age groups and skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners.
In the music section, the MSA offers lessons in Violin, Guitar, and Pianoforte, incorporating both theory and practice. These classes provide an excellent foundation for those wishing to start learning a musical instrument, as well as expert guidance for musicians practising at a more advanced level.
The MSA has long been a champion of both traditional and contemporary crafts, and this is reflected in its extensive course offerings. Starting in October, students can enrol in Lace Making, Knitting, Crochet, Dressmaking, Embroidery, Tailoring, and Sewing for Beginners, ensuring the continuation of these cherished skills.
