More than 700,000 jars and carton boxes were collected and recycled through the Nescafé Collect Scheme and Nescafé Dolce Gusto Bonus Point Scheme.
Nestlé, and specifically Malta’s favourite coffee brand Nescafé, has recycled more than 433,000 jars and 300,000 carton boxes, all collected in 2018 alone.
Through the Nescafé Collect Scheme consumers were encouraged to collect their empty Nescafé jars and exchange them at the Nestlé Consumer Centre in Lija for various collectible gifts and vouchers.
The Nescafé Dolce Gusto Bonus Point Scheme likewise offered coffee lovers the chance to swap their empty Nescafé Dolce Gusto carton boxes for any of a number of stylish coffee-related accessories or even new machines from the Nescafé Dolce Gusto range.
This impressive annual recycling figure continues to illustrate Nestlé Malta’s commitment to helping the local environment. “We are proud that Nescafé has once again recycled such an extraordinary number of jars and carton boxes in just one year,” says Alfred Borg, Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager at Nestlé Malta Limited. “Not only does this reinforce our commitment towards the environment – especially in view of the growing awareness regarding waste separation in Malta – but it also proves that giant industry names such as ours, which have a substantial presence on this market, are more than able to uphold their corporate social responsibility.”
In the coming years the coffee giant’s recycling figure is set to grow even further, as it works towards making all its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.
As Malta’s favourite coffee, Nescafe’s values regarding consumer safety and respect towards the planet have been honed thanks to a long history of the brand on the Maltese islands. Today, so many homes in Malta have a Nescafé Dolce Gusto machine that a new specialised Service Point was recently opened within the Nestlé Consumer Centre in Lija. Specialising in the modern art of coffee, Nescafé Dolce Gusto offers the ultimate range of indulgent hot beverages for coffee-lovers to enjoy in the comfort of their own home.
