A new piano company has launched, marking a crescendo for music lovers in Malta and formalising a remarkable family legacy that has gently shaped the island’s musical landscape for over six decades.
Through the newly established Brincat Pianos Ltd, Diane Brincat continues her family’s generations-long passion for exceptional pianos. In the 1960s, Saviour Brincat both played and restored pianos in his spare time, his restoration expertise later inspiring the launch of a paint and varnish business and expansion into piano retail. The Brincat family opened their first dedicated piano showroom in Pietà in 1991, with operations continuing for decades under the management of Diane’s father, Gregory, and aunt, Josette.
“Pianos have been part of our lives for 65 years,” explains Diane. “As the third generation, I want to ensure that the Brincat family legacy of passion for pianos lives on by investing in and launching Brincat Pianos Ltd. I truly believe in the power of music played on a beautiful instrument and in these prestigious brands that are found in the world’s finest concert halls and conservatories.”
Indeed, Brincat Pianos Ltd will make available in Malta pianos from top manufacturers such as C. Bechstein, Blüthner and Dexibell, while also making quality pianos accessible to music lovers in both homes and businesses, to bring joy for generations.
“It’s not about how much you spend – it’s about finding the best piano within your budget that delights you and represents quality, and that you might even wish to pass down as a family heirloom. It’s a personal, meaningful, long-lasting and joyful purchase, and we want to make sure that the buying experience reflects that,” Diane explains.
Brincat Pianos Ltd operates from a purpose-built space in Naxxar that is open by appointment, designed not only as a showroom but as a comprehensive piano experience centre. Future plans include transforming part of the facility into a professional recording studio – complete, of course, with a piano – where musicians can rehearse, record and create content, reflecting Diane’s vision of becoming a cultural hub for Malta’s growing music community.
“Pianos are irreplaceable in Malta’s cultural fabric and already grace several top local venues, including the Malta Society of the Arts, Palazzo Parisio and Teatru Manoel,” she adds. “While the works of classical composers like Bach and Rachmaninoff remain timeless favourites, today, mainstream artists such as Coldplay and Taylor Swift are leading a piano renaissance and making the instrument more accessible to new generations – and we want to help people in Malta become part of the melody, on a quality piano they can call their own, to love and to play for years to come.”
