The Malta Society of Arts has just launched its anticipated schedule of Summer Courses, which includes morning, afternoon and evening courses for people of all ages.
There’s something for everyone at the Malta Society of Arts (MSA), with courses from Monday to Saturday in the visual, applied and performing arts for children, the young and the less young who want to further their arts education. Starting at the beginning of July and continuing on for the two summer months, the courses offer high quality teaching in the heart of MSA’s seat, Palazzo de La Salle, at affordable fees.
The social media generation can start honing their photography skills at the ‘Starting Photography’ course aimed at young people between 11 and 16 years of age. Teaching will take place every Tuesday morning. However, grown-ups need not despair, as the same photography course will also be offered to adults (16+ years) on Monday evenings.
Manga aficionados can choose to learn about manga art in the course being offered every Saturday morning, where participants will learn the various techniques necessary to produce comics and manga designs. Meanwhile, those who want to start creating their own fashion items, can join the ‘Sewing for Beginners’ course, which will be taking place every Thursday morning.
The Malta Society of Arts is a music education hub, and is the local representative of the London College of Music examinations. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that it also offers summer courses in various musical instruments, including piano, guitar, violin and voice. In addition, the performing arts section includes fun-filled drama lessons taking place every Tuesday morning.
Other popular courses starting this summer include Cake Decorating for 11 to 16 year olds, Clay Modelling, Tailoring, Dress Making, Human Figure Nude Art, Art for Mature Students 50+ years, and Art for Juniors. As a relative new addition to the list of visual art courses, the Fine Arts Portraiture Workgroups, offer a laid-back and friendly atmosphere where like-minded people can meet and create art.
Meanwhile, the applied arts courses include knitting, cross-stitch, patchwork and cottage arts, while courses in ganutell, crochet, gold embroidery, monastery and lace-making will be encouraging the preservation of these precious traditional arts.
