The Phoenicia Malta has recently achieved Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification – an internationally recognised hallmark of excellence in sustainable travel and hospitality. This significant achievement reflects the hotel’s steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, cultural preservation and community engagement.

As a proud member of The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), The Phoenicia Malta also stands out as an LHW Sustainability Leader, further reinforcing its position as one of the most responsible and forward-thinking luxury hotels in the Mediterranean region.

The GSTC certification is the result of years of comprehensive sustainability efforts by The Phoenicia Malta, including measures to ensure energy and water efficiency; waste management and circularity – such as a waste separation programme, reduced single-use plastics and a kitchen policy that prioritises composting and food waste minimisation; and community and cultural heritage initiatives through the hotel’s support for local artists and artisans, its preservation of treasures on the property and close collaboration with NGOs and heritage organisations.

“We are deeply honoured to have achieved GSTC certification,” says Robyn Pratt, General Manager of The Phoenicia Malta. “This milestone recognises the dedication of our entire team and our belief that true luxury hospitality must be in harmony with the environment, the community and the cultural fabric of our destination.”

The Phoenicia Malta continues to elevate its sustainability goals, aligning with global best practices while offering guests an authentic, responsible and unforgettable experience, all the time focused on bringing the rich story of Malta to life for their guests.
